New Year's dinners in Rosarito are usually tied to a hotel or venue, so the event decides where you spend the night. Here is what was listed for the 2025-26 holiday:
- Rosarito Beach Hotel & Spa, December 31. Buffet dinner, mariachi, live dance music and a party kit. Presale was 2,500 pesos (about US$147) and 2,800 pesos regular. A two-night party-plus-room package (December 30 to January 1) was listed at 8,699 pesos per room.
- Puerto Nuevo Baja Hotel & Villas, December 29 to January 1. Four-course dinner with a glass of wine, brunch-style breakfast, live music, heated pool and jacuzzi, listed at US$187 a night with a three-night minimum.

The beach is the venue.
Many people welcome the year on the sand, and Papas & Beer is the beach club right next to Rosarito Inn.
- Fireworks: organized displays are announced separately each year, and we could not confirm one for this holiday. Ask your hotel and venues before you build the night around it.
- Papas & Beer: its events page had no New Year's Eve event listed when we checked in late October. Look again closer to the date.
- Dress for the sea: December nights on the Pacific are cool, so bring layers.
- Stay close: from a beachfront condo you can walk to the sand and back to a kitchen and a warm shower.
Keep it small, and well lit.
The most romantic New Year's in Rosarito may be the one you cook yourselves.
- Sunset first: the coast faces west over open water, so the last sunset of the year is part of the evening.
- A kitchen of your own: every Rosarito Inn condo has a full kitchen, so dinner and a toast need no reservation.
- Breakfast and lunch out: Oceana Grill & Cafe, in the same plaza, is open daily from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm according to its website, with room service for Rosarito Inn guests.
- A pool and a jacuzzi for the first morning of the year.

Southbound is usually the easy direction. Sort Mexican auto insurance before you drive, and have a dinner plan for the night.

Puerto Nuevo lobster village is roughly 20 to 30 minutes south. ATV and horseback operators work around town.
- Dec 31New Year's Eve
Sunset on the beach, then the night you picked. Book dinner and the bed first.
- Jan 1Slow first morning
Late breakfast, a long beach walk, the pool. Rosarito Inn's Oceana Grill & Cafe serves until 4:00 pm.

Return traffic builds at the end of a holiday stretch. Check CBP's live wait times before you leave.

Plan the drive home first.
Getting into Mexico is usually quick. Coming back is where a holiday weekend gets long.
- Bring a valid passport book or passport card for every U.S. traveler.
- Driving? Buy Mexican auto insurance before you cross. U.S. policies generally do not cover you in Mexico.
- Check the official CBP border wait times right before you leave, and compare San Ysidro with Otay Mesa.
- Return traffic builds on the last day of a holiday stretch. If you can, stay one more night and cross on a lighter day.

Holiday nights fill. On the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend 2026, the local hotel association reported 100% occupancy citywide. Book New Year's early.
